A method of intersection channelization by CAD is developed in this  paper
.  Many factors have affections on the final way of intersection channelization
, includeing the shape of intersection, the status of traffic flow, the method
 of  traffic  regulaton and the existing buildings  around  the  intersection
,  and  also  the  planning of  urban development .The authors start from
 the basic  data  of  the  intersection  listed  above,  then  group the 
data into several classes and finally give the regulation of  intersection
 channelization and propose the method which helps designers to expediently
  channelize the intersection traffic on computer.

The intersection is the bottleneck of the road net. 60% of  the  accidents
 and most  of  the  congestions  happen at the  intersection  or  neighborhood
. Therefore planning and design of the Intersection is very important to 
the road expedite and the traffic safety. The intersection channelization
 aims to solve all kinds of problems in  related to the intersection, and
 to take proper methods to improve the capability of the  intersection.
 Through channelization the traffic capacity can be increased and the efficiency
 can be improved. After road is channelized, the interferes between persons
 and vehicles will reduce, then  the  traffic capacity  will  be increased
 and the road will become more expedite. Since the mix traffic is the most
 important character in many cities of china,  and vehicles and non-vehicles
 and also passersbys affect each other, congestions often occur when they
 are passing which will be relieved after the road channelization.
And intersection channelization can also reduce traffic accidents, for the
 subjective and external causes, when vehicles, non-vehicles and also passersbys
 are passing together on the narrow roads, the liberty of the traffic participators
 is rather high, quite a big part of the traffic participators are lack of
 safety consciousness, and of  all these lead to the traffic chaos, and traffic
 accidents easily happen. Through channelization, the flow is separated, 
vehicles and passers travel on their own lanes. So the peccancies and traffic
 accidents will be hugely reduced.

Intersection channelization can also beautify the  environment  of  cities
,  the air quality is one of the important indexes of the environment benefit
  analyse in the designing of the intersection channelization. According 
to some concerned research, traffic delay  has  large effect on the air quality
 of the intersection and around it. Therefore improving the traffic organization
, reducing queuing delay can obviously prevent the pollution caused by traffic
.
The authors develpe a CAD method of intersection channelization ,in order
 to improving the designer's efficiency. They also apply it in practice and
 gain well effect.
