En, I really recommend the young fellows do not choose ceramics.
Try thin film (develope to electronic materials) or polymer or Biomaterials.
If I had been not a ceramics student, I could had much better chances and save
d a lot of time.
Some schools, Such as Princeton, have very good materials related programs in
EE for nano or Polymer( for microelectronics or optoelectronics applications).
