Perfection of means and confusion of aims seems, in my opinion, to 
characterize our age. 
我认为:科技进步，但却没有方向，是这个时代的写照。



It is easier to denature plutonium than it is to denature the evil
spirit of man.


All our lauded technological progress—our very civilization—is 
like the ax in the hand of the pathological criminal.


The discovery of nuclear chain reactions need not bring about the 
destruction of mankind, any more than did the discovery of matches.


In order to be an immaculate member of a flock of sheep, one must
above all be a sheep oneself.


As a human being, one has been endowed with just enough 
intelligence to be able to see clearly how utterly inadequate that
intelligence is when confronted with what exists.


Measured objectively, what a man can wrest from truth by passionate
striving is utterly infinitesimal. But the striving frees us from
the bonds of the self and makes us comrades of those who are the 
best and the greatest.


I am reminded of the German proverb: Everyone measures according 
to his own shoes.


The man who regards his own life and that of his fellow creatures
as meaningless is not merely unhappy but hardly fit for life.
