穆旦，原名：查良铮，著名诗人和诗歌翻译家。
祖籍浙江海宁，1918年生于天津。
中学时即开始诗歌创作，17岁考入清华大学外文系。
1937年“七·七”事变后随大学南迁长沙，后又徒步远行至昆明。
1939年开始系统接触现代主义英诗、文论，创作发生转变，并走向成熟。
1940年毕业于西南联大外文系，留校担任助教。
1942年从军，参加入缅抗日，历经艰险。
1943年回国后经历了几年不安定的生活。
1945年创办沈阳《新报》，任主编。
1947年参加后来被称为“九叶诗派”的创作活动。
1949年8月赴美留学，获芝加哥大学文学硕士学位。
1953年初回国，任南开大学外文系副教授，致力于俄、英诗歌翻译。
1958年被指为历史反革命，先后十多年受到管制、批判、劳改，停止诗歌创作，坚持翻
译。
1975年恢复诗歌创作。
1977年春节因病去世。
1979年平反。
主要著作有：
诗集《探险队》(1945)、《穆旦诗集(1939-1945)》(1947)、《旗》(1948)、《穆旦诗选
》(1986)等，
及《欧根·奥涅金》(1957)、《唐璜》(1980)、《英国现代诗选》(1985)等大量译诗。
