我的申请经历(附二:推荐信)
Reference one:
Dear Sir/Madam:
I take great pleasure in recommending Mr. Lai Keji for admission into your d
istinguished graduate school. As a professor of the Structure Analysis Resea
rch Center in USTC (University of Science and Technology of China), I was di
rector of the Chinese team attending the 28th IPhO (International Physics Ol
ympiad). Our team members were selected from high school students all over t
he nation through a series of contests. Mr. Lai stood out as one of the best
candidates not only by a distinctive talent in physics, but also by his rem
arkable emotional maturity. His excellent psychological quality deserves men
tioning here. I clearly remember that, he was seriously sick before an impor
tant test and was 30 minutes late for the exam. We all assumed that his mood
would be greatly depressed. However, he persisted to the end and surprised
everyone by a better and better performance. IPhO calls for first-rate quali
fications in many aspects, such as carefulness and confidence. I was glad to
see that, in Sudbury, Canada, he soon adjusted to the 12-hour time differen
ce and participated in the finals of IPhO in his best condition. He came fif
th among all the 266 participants from 55 countries and won a gold medal.
After Mr. Lai began his college study, I kept in touch with him from time to
time. I have always felt pleased to hear about his progress, both in terms
of academics and personality. The spirit to challenge the highest goal is fo
rever shining in his nature. So I recommend him without reservation for his
admission and financial aid to your program. Please feel free to contact me
if further information is needed.
Sincerely Yours, Professor JIN Sizhao

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr. Lai Keji, an excellent st
udent, to pursue graduate study work in your university.
As a professor of the Institute of Microelectronics of Tsinghua University,
I taught him "Semiconductor Physics", which is one of the most important fun
damental courses for Microelectronics majors. Tsinghua is famous for its spe
cial emphasis on the basic training of students. So the content of the cours
e is rather demanding. Having lectured this lesson for many years, I invaria
bly showed my high requirement and assigned challenging schoolwork to my stu
dents. Mr. Lai could always finish them excellently and sometimes even quest
ioned on some slips inside, giving valuable suggestion to my lecture. In the
final examination, he received a high score of 97, ranking first among all
test takers. He deserved it for his dedication to learning. As I know, he al
so did well in other essential courses and showed a strong background of mat
hematics and physics.
Judging from his ingenious learning ability and diligent attitude, I am conv
inced that he will contribute greatly to your program. I therefore lend my e
nthusiastic support and would appreciate your favorable consideration about
his application. I shall willingly offer further information if it is needed
.
Sincerely Yours, Prof. TIAN Lilin
Reference Three:
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr. Lai Keji for his pursuit
of graduate study in your distinguished university. It is indeed a pleasure
to do so for he is one of my best students.
An associate professor of the Institute of Microelectronics of Tsinghua Univ
ersity and concurrently in charge of student education, I know that Mr. Lai
had kept exceptionally good academic records in high school and was recommen
ded to Tsinghua University without the National College Entrance Examination
(NCEE, similar to SAT). His rigorous attitude toward study impressed me ver
y much when I taught him "Solid State Physics" last year. His well-organized
schoolwork and a high score of 94 in final exam showed a good understanding
of fundamental concepts in the course. As to my knowledge, Mr. Lai also has
a very agreeable personality. He is always willing to help others when need
ed and enjoys great popularity among his classmates.
In view of all that I know of him, Mr. LAI will predictably be an outstandin
g student in graduate studies. So I recommend him strongly. If you want to k
now more about him, please don't hesitate to contact with me.
Sincerely Yours, Associate Prof. Yan Wang
