今天看到有网友说给ETS弄错toefl里的名字,问如何处理.
回贴中有人说他/她GRE也碰到这样的麻烦事.看来,这个问题还
挺普遍.
为了提高大家与ETS斗争经验,我把我的经历写出来,
希望对正为此头疼的dd/mm/gg/jj有帮助.
我报了98.11的GRE Sub考试,领准考证时发现我的名字中多出两
个字母.我在考试当天向主考官提出来,考完试后填了个表,主考官
也签字了.可我1月5日去取成绩的时候,发现一点儿没改,而且这两个
字母跑到我的last name后,我当时非常非常生气,因为这对我申请影响
太大了. #@$@%#%@#$ ETS
我回去后第一件事,写了一张note,夹在我的application信封里 (我寄的颇晚)

Very Important Note:
I just received my GRE Computer Science Subject score (taken on Nov 7,
1998; Reg. No.-1161590) from the test center today. Unfortunately, I
found out that ETS made a spelling MISTAKE on my last name in the score
report. It should be 'HUANG', not 'HUANGHM'.
I will contact ETS and request the correction of that. Giving this
circumstance, I hope you can process my application with this GRE subject
score (bearing the name 'HAIMING HUANGHM'), before receiving a corrected
score report. For your convenience and early reference, I enclosed
photocopies of the score reports.
I certify the authenticity of my GRE Subject test score. I am a serious
applicant, and I will not joke with my future. Sorry for any inconvenience
I bring to you, and I will really appreciate your assistant.

然后,我把准考证和我的score report(ETS拼错姓名的证据)扫描下来,

Dear Sir/Madam:
I took GRE Computer Science Subject Test in Nov 7, 1998
(Reg. No.:1161590). I registered my name as "HUANG(last
name) HAIMING(first name)". When I receive the admission
ticket, I found out that my name was misspelled as
"HUANG H M HAIMING". (see the attached scanned image)
In the day of the test, I reported the name mistake to the
administrator, and he asked me to write a correction request
form after the test. I did, and he also signed the request form.
In this way, I thought the problem was solved.
However, when I got the score report from test center in Jan 8,
I found that the mistake was still there. But this time my name
was misspelled as "HUANGHM HAIMING" (see the attached
scanned image).
I feel quite disappointed about your work, in which lapse
happens again. This mistake would really ruin all my effort of
application. The universities think the score of
"HUANGHM HAIMING" is someone else, although I indeed
spent 4 months working hard on my subject test and took the
test.
It is requested that you correct my name, and send me, as well as
the four schools on the list, another score report. I look forward to
your prompt reply, and your serious consideration is highly
appreciated.

两天后收到ETS的acknowledge,说8 working days给我处理云云.当时气的
真想丢个邮件炸弹给ETS,后来想想ETS垮了,考99.4的dd/mm们不就歇菜了,
算了,我也就忍下这口气.
终于,过了一周半漫长的等待,收到ETS的email:
"...Your name has been corrected as requested, and your new
score report will be sent to the institutions listed on your
GRE File..."
总算给改过来了,不过其中耽误的时间和精力却是无法弥补的.我的一点儿
体会,对付ETS一定不能客气,有多狠就多狠,(请看给ets的email的第四段,
我原本还想写的更火爆些的,把他们骂的狗血淋头,后来想想还要求人,也
就算了)
