Milan-Real Madrid is a veritable feast of football memories.
 The titanic clash between the Rossoneri and the merengues is
 the first significant friendly of Milan's pre-season, althou
gh a fixture of this gravity cannot really be regarded as a f
riendly.
The 13 European Cups won by the two clubs (eight by Real and
five by Milan) testify that this is no ordinary match but an
encounter between two of the continent's most prestigious and
 successful footballing bodies.
History is littered with great Milan-Real Madrid encounters.
The most memorable is undoubtedly the scintillating 5-0 victo
ry by the Rossoneri in the 1989 European Cup semi-final. Arri
go Sacchi's great Milan team brushed aside their Spanish oppo
sition with ease at the San Siro earning a place in the Europ
ean Cup Final - which they went on to win for a fourth time.
