With Zaccheroni, he has just won his sixth League title in twelve years. Alo
ngside Baresi, Donadoni, Maldini and Tassoti, Costacurta was part of the gre
at Milan team that swept all before them in domestic and international footb
all. Of those so-called "Invincibles" he had been most at risk and responded
 magnificently by producing arguably the best football of his career. He was
 a defensive linchpin last season and made 29 appearances. He is nicknamed B
illy, due to his youthful excesses as a supporter of Olimpia Milano, a baske
tball (his second favourite sport) team who fifteen years ago had as their s
ponsors a popular brand of drink called Billy. Away from the demands of foot
ball, he was a regular visitor to the Palatrussardi where he would follow hi
s beloved team. But when Milano folded, he switched allegiances to Varese.
Separated from his wife, he is dating well-known actress Martina Colombari.
He boasts a love of art as well as a keen interest in high finance and reads
 the Financial Times to keep up to date. Not your run-of-the-mill footballer
. A couple of years ago, he and some friends opened a new place on the Via G
aribaldi called Ibiza, a fashionable restaurant patronised by stars from the
 world of show business. On Saturday mornings the big defender joins forces
with Massimo Valli and pal Luca Serafini to present the radio show Bravi rag
azzi, a two-hour-long slot on the One-o-One Network.
