Albertini is one of a group of older players who were able to bounce back af
ter two disappointing campaigns. He is the last great talent to have emerged
 from the club's youth system. Last season he claimed his fifth Scudetto wit
h Milan (with two goals in 29 appearances), having won four under Capello. O
utside the domestic game, he was a European Cup winner in 1994. He is the te
am's "metronome", the one who dictates play from the middle of the park, as
well as being a stalwart of Dino Zoff's national team. He narrowly missed ou
t on winning the World Cup in USA'94 with the Azzurri, losing a penalty shoo
t-out to Brazil in the final. Demetrio has always been a Milan player, havin
g come up through the ranks, save for a spell at Padova in season 1990-91.
