Chelsea on Tuesday.
1964 - Born on July 9 in Cremona, Italy.
1980 - Made his debut for local side Cremonese at 16.
1984 - Joins Sampdoria for 1.8 million pounds.
1985 - Makes debut for Italy, against Poland.
1990 - Scores both goals as Sampdoria win European Cup Winners' Cup. Plays i
n Italian
team wich finishes third in World Cup.
1991 - Scores 19 goals as Sampdoria win Serie A title.
1992 - Plays in European Cup Final but ends up a loser against Barcelona at
Wembley.
Joins Juventus in the summer for a world record 12 million pounds.
1993 - Wins UEFA Cup with Juventus.
May 1995 - Wins Italian Double. Voted World Player of the Year.
May 1996 - Leaves Juventus after captaining them to victory over Ajax in the
 European Cup
final in Rome. Joins Chelsea on free transfer, turning down a better offer f
rom Glasgow
Rangers.
Aug 1996 - Makes premier league debut in a goalless draw with Southampton. S
