MTV音乐频道以及滚石杂志评选为1963年至今的流行歌曲100首，披头四的经典名曲〈Ye
sterday〉居冠。

披头四、滚石合唱团、麦克杰克逊和玛丹娜，在这张100首流行歌曲名单上，各有2首歌
占前25名。第2名是滚石合唱团的〈I Can’t Get No Satisfaction〉，而美国另一个音
乐频道VH1，也在今年初选择这首歌为摇滚年代最佳歌曲。

超脱合唱团在1991年的〈Smell Like Teen Spirit〉排名第三，是当时Grunge乐风的先
驱，同时也让主唱寇特科班的事业达到高峰。

不过这样的名单，当然会引起乐迷们的争议，MTV音乐频道和滚石杂志以披头四的崛起年
代，做为评选百首流行歌曲的分水岭，当然会让乐迷认为过於武断，但他们表示上榜的
歌曲是依照其对流行文化的影响排名，不是选择百首最佳歌曲。这就是为何艾瑞克克莱
普敦的〈Layla〉没有上榜，但〈Tears in Heaven〉却在第45名。

MTV音乐频道的资深副总裁汤姆考德伦表示，〈Yesterday〉出线几乎是一致通过，他说
：每个年龄层都知道〈Yesterday〉。

除了老歌之外，不少青少年流行曲也上榜，新好男孩的〈I Wait it That Way〉占第10
名，小甜甜布兰妮的〈Baby One More Time〉占第25名，超级男孩的〈Bye Bye Bye〉排
名55。滚石杂志的编辑乔莱维说：新好男孩的这首歌实在太难让人忘记，我相信这首歌
过2年应该都还会盘旋在乐迷的脑海里。

100首歌中，有16首属於1960年代，27首1970年代的作品，28首1980和1990年代的作品。

麦克杰克逊有3首歌在22名内，包括〈Billie Jean〉、〈Beat It〉以及他还在Jackson
 5 的〈I Want You Back〉。U2的歌曲〈One〉同样也在10名内，乔莱维说：这首歌无疑
地是他们做过最好的歌曲之一，而且这个乐团永远能创造好的成绩。
